Gifts to Volunteers
Over the years there have been a number of coins made by Groundspeak for the reviewers. Some were given to them to share (2005,2008, and the Volunteer tags from 2014-2015), and others were sent out as a thank you to the reviewers.
These were sent out to Volunteers and were to be activated by them before given out. I have seen a few unactivated but those are pretty rare. When i became a reviewer I asked about the coins, and Palmetto sent me this one out of the blue. Thanks a ton, It was one of my first dozen coins.
I started reviewing in 2009, but like the other coin I asked about it in the reviewer forums and Palmetto Sent this to me.
Thanks a ton Palmetto.
This was sent out in 2010 to the volunteers. They sent me the code later and we had to have it engraved ourselves.
This is on e of the best designed and most interesting coins ever made. I love this one. The little sign is for the Watering Hole, the little place that reviewers go to let off steam. We share the good, and discuss our problems. The back has the reviewer bricks that are used to kill bad caches, and beat ourselves on the heads when me make mistakes.
This one is really cool. Sadly it arrived a bit after Christmas. It is an ornament that you hang on your tree. The center spins and asks if you have been naughty or nice. One side is a present and the other is coal.
Thanks Groundspeak for the wonderful coal.
This came a few years ago, I cannot remember when. 2011 I think?
This was an unexpected surpise, and has seen a lot of use. I have had it fall off a few times, but good cachers always get it back to me. You can see the label I made is slowly falling apart. I should really make another one.
Another of the annual coins that volunteers recieved.
This was the gift to Volunteers in 2008. A single coin for each one.
Another great coin that was given to me.
Someone asked me what the obey means on my shirt and a few of the coins. Basically it is a reminder that as reviewers we obey the guidelines. Not toss in our own reasoning without a reason. Pretty simple reminder.
In 2005 and 2007 the coins were made for reviewers to give out and share to the community. There was a desire for this to continue. So in 2014 and 2015 a handful of these went to every volunteer to share with other cachers.
This was actually an error. A few years ago they sent up name tags, they are aluminum wih a little steel plate on the back and magnets to hold it on a shirt. This was a great idea/
They decided to replicate it, and sent me another with the same number on it. However this one is Brass with nickel plating. 3mm thick. As you can guess it is a bit too heavy to wear anywhere, and the magnet barely holds it on. So, I did not get a name tag, but a name coin.
Not sure what year to put on this. It was recieved just after the new year. The little compass arrow spins to point at whichever I want.
Nice design. Thanks Groundspeak.
Selected by a vote of the reviewers. Available only from a reviewer. They were purchased by the reviewers. Some did not choose to buy any.
